Jesus Is the Ultimate Gift-Giver
Earlier this week, we discussed God’s Righteousness and that He is the Only True God. Because of these Truths, we know that Jesus is the Only Way to have Eternal Life with God. This is a Gift from God that we could never earn. He is the Ultimate Gift-Giver!
When sin entered the world in Genesis 3, the Human Race was eternally separated from being in community with God. Through God’s Goodness, Mercy, and Grace, He provided the Jewish people with strict Laws to help put them in the right position temporarily with Himself as they awaited the Messiah. No matter how faithfully the Jewish people followed the Laws, they had to continue making different sacrifices to atone for their sins as they waited for the Messiah to come to make the Ultimate Sacrifice. This would be a One-Time, for All-Time Sacrifice.
When Jesus came to the Earth, Fully Man and Fully God, He lived a Sinless, Perfect Life. Through His Death on the Cross, Burial, and Resurrection from the dead, all who confess with their mouths and believe in their hearts are Redeemed through Jesus (Romans 10:9). Because of His Great Sacrifice, those who trust in Him have Eternal Life.
Romans 6:23 says that “the wages of sin is death,” meaning the penalty of our sin is separation from God. Knowing that we have been Redeemed from the depths of our sins and brought into the Family of God, how do we respond?
Thanksgiving and praise have been our theme through this series, and we want to continue that in every part of our lives—constantly looking for God’s Goodness and Beauty in day-to-day life. Another way to respond to this Beautiful Gift from God is to obey His Commands in Matthew 28:19-20 and Acts 1:8, which say we are to share the Gospel of Jesus with the nations.
Acts 1:8 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 can be applied to lives like this: Jerusalem is your home, Judea is your neighborhood, Samaria is your surrounding community, and the ends of the Earth are just that—the ends of the Earth/the entire nation of people.
There are opportunities at every corner to share the Good News of Jesus Christ! When Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, He was sending a Beautiful Gift who allows us to be in constant connection and communication with God. He gave us His own Spirit to dwell within us and to empower us through the Gifts of the Spirit.
Let’s use this Wonderful Gift of the Holy Spirit to share the Ultimate Gift of Jesus Christ’s Redeeming Love with those who do not know Him!
When we understand what God has done for us, we can boldly share this Good News with the world! How powerful that the Living Holy Spirit is within the heart of every believer, empowering us to do the Work that God has called us to do according to His Purposes!
