Choose: Deciding What to Do With What Jesus DidSýnishorn
Saved people make mistakes, but they keep following God. Once a person has the Holy Spirit inside of them, they cannot deny the truth of Who God is or what He has done for them. They can’t walk away. They might give in to temptation (an invitation to sin) sometimes, but they won’t make a habit of it because when they sin, it hurts the Holy Spirit inside them and that hurts them. Sooner or later, they quit trying to be their own boss and let God be their boss again because that’s what brings them true peace and joy.
Some people pretend to be saved and belong to God, but they aren’t. It can be hard to tell the difference between a saved person and a person who isn’t saved sometimes, because anyone can be “good” for a little while. However, time always reveals the truth. Saved people don’t walk away from God. People who aren’t saved do. Without the Holy Spirit inside, they are powerless to live lives that please God, and they give up.
Following Jesus is about choosing Him for salvation and then choosing to surrender to Him every single day in every single way for the rest of our lives. Those who do this until the end receive everything God has promised to those who believe that the story of Jesus is true, and trust Him to save them by making Him their boss.
About this Plan
God does all the heavy lifting in our relationship with Him. He sent Jesus to save us. He gives us the faith to believe. He gives us the ability and desire to obey, but He doesn't make us do anything. To experience God, we must choose Jesus. When we do, God saves us, sets us apart, helps us grow, and rewards our surrender with an inheritance that never fades.
