Choose: Deciding What to Do With What Jesus Did

DAY 1 OF 4

Sin (iniquity) is anything that doesn’t match God’s will or character. According to the Bible, we all have sin in our lives, and that sin separates us from God. God doesn’t want it that way, but He is holy and can’t be around anything unholy. No matter what we do, we can’t get across the gap between us and God that is created by our sin. Nothing we do is good enough.

Thankfully, God didn’t leave us stranded on the other side of that gap. He sent His Son Jesus to save us! Jesus was fully God and fully man. He lived the same life we live, but never sinned. Not once! Jesus took our sin on Himself and allowed Himself to be crucified on the cross to pay our passage back across the gap created by our sin. Now, all we have to do to be saved is believe that the story of Jesus is true and put our trust in Jesus by making Him the boss of our lives. When we do, the gap between us and God is closed, and we become His forever. Nothing and no one can take us out of His hand.

Salvation is free, but it’s not automatic. God did all the work, but if we don’t let it count for us by believing and trusting, it won’t. God wants everyone to be saved, but He doesn’t force anyone. We have to decide for ourselves, and we really shouldn’t put it off. Until we choose Jesus, we have chosen against Him. There isn’t a third option. Jesus is the only way to be reconciled (brought back into right relationship) with God.

About this Plan

Choose: Deciding What to Do With What Jesus Did

God does all the heavy lifting in our relationship with Him. He sent Jesus to save us. He gives us the faith to believe. He gives us the ability and desire to obey, but He doesn't make us do anything. To experience God, we must choose Jesus. When we do, God saves us, sets us apart, helps us grow, and rewards our surrender with an inheritance that never fades.
