Storms

DAY 2 OF 4

Trusting God in the Storm

Every evening, I love to walk three miles in my neighborhood. One night last summer, I went for a nice, long walk. I saw a few clouds and remember thinking, “I don’t need an umbrella. I already have a flashlight. I got my phone, my glasses. I’m ready.”

Sure enough, a storm rolled in and rain began pouring… followed by lightning and hail. I literally didn’t know what to do! It was scary. These days, I bring an umbrella now on my walks if there’s a cloud in the sky.

In the same way, when we experience storms in life—whether it be a relational challenge or a physical health problem—it is scary. Maybe that’s where you are right now—and you need to have God’s perspective on the storms you’re facing.

In Mark 4, we see Jesus and the Disciples face a massive storm one night on the Sea of Galilee and we read Jesus’ response in verse 39, Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Wow!

Friend, if you’re in a storm right now I have good news for you—Jesus is in it with you and He’s promised you peace! Through trusting Him, you will get to the other side.

No matter what happens, keep trusting Him and the storm will cease.

As you engage with God’s Word:

● What is God saying to you?

● What does it mean to you?

● What action step do you need to take?

After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
