He’s Been There Too
Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because He was tempted in every way that we are. But He did not sin! So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will be treated with undeserved grace, and we will find help.
HEBREWS 4:15–16 CEV
We can find all sorts of comfort in the fact that Jesus came to earth as a human, facing many of the same hardships, frustrations, and joys that come with the human experience. He got hungry (Mark 11:12), and maybe He even got hangry a time or two. He got tired (John 4:6) and needed to rest and take time away from people. And have you ever thought about how Jesus was single? He not only knows what it’s like to be human, He knows what it’s like to be single. He understands you even when you feel as though no one else can because He’s been there.
As our passage tells us, the fact that Jesus sees us so well can spur us to come to Him whenever we are in need. As a single woman, you may feel a particular type of need. You may feel lonely and desperate for a reminder that you are not alone. Or maybe you are content in your singleness and are looking to Jesus for affirmation that that’s okay, even as those around you question this decision. Perhaps you’re unsure about whether you should be looking for a relationship or not. You can come to Him with that too. Jesus knows you so well, and that includes your experience as a single person. You may have had conversations with others about singleness that didn’t go so well, leaving you feeling downcast or anxiety-ridden, questioning your decisions, or ready to just give up. Not so with Jesus. When you come to Him, He can not only empathize with you but meet you with kindness and help. Jesus understands.
Right Now Reminder:
When He came to earth, Jesus experienced what it was like to be human . . . including being single. He understands and empathizes with you.
