Walking by Faith One Day at a TimeSýnishorn
Change Your Perspective
One of my favorite pastime activities as a child was climbing trees. Our weekend retreat farmhouse in Milan, Indiana was over a hundred years old, and the property was surrounded by large, beautiful trees, perfect for climbing.
There was one tree that I loved to scale and settle atop its branches. It was out in the front yard and towered above the farmhouse, barn, and outbuildings. The trunk had thick, sturdy limbs near the base so that a small person like me could easily make its ascent.
Up and up, I would steadily climb with careful precision. The higher I would go, the more amazing the view. Strangely, my perspective seemed to change while resting at the top. From the ground the farmhouse seemed colossal, but from the treetop it appeared small and insignificant. Serenity enveloped me every time I climbed that tree. It was a spiritual high of sorts, one that I frequented many times during my childhood.
Do problems in your life seem so big and overwhelming that you can't see past them? Perhaps it's time to change your perspective.
Like climbing a tree, our faith in the one true God lifts us to greater heights. As we ascend with the Father, our perspective changes. Our problems become smaller, and our God becomes bigger.
We need to remember that no problem on earth is too big for God to handle.
Just make sure you are clinging to the right tree.
Life Application
What are some life experiences that have helped you see God and the world around you through the lens of your heavenly Father?
Prayer
Father God, every time I trust your higher ways, you take me to greater heights and help me see things more clearly. Help me to keep going to that place of rest and refuge, fixing my eyes on the cross so I am able to see things through your eyes. Amen.

About this Plan
Walking by faith is the essence of our journey with God. He wants us to keep our eyes fixed on Him, trusting Him to lead us step-by-step and day-by-day. When we can't see ahead, we must listen for God's direction and rely entirely on His lead. The Lord goes before us and will get us where we need to go.
