On Day 1 of this plan, I shared that while it’s perfectly fine to have an appreciation for ease, we don’t often realize that it is resistance that causes us to become stronger, to grow in spiritual maturity, and to cultivate a spiritual reservoir large enough to hold the blessing God has for us…you know - the one you’ve been praying to receive.
The truth is, that God can only fill the cup that you present for filling. If your cup is small, it will quickly run over. If you instead present God with a reservoir large enough, you’ll receive the full blessing God has for you.
You can increase the size of your cup, making it larger and larger until it becomes a reservoir, by working through healing the resistance life has presented.
I’m a health and fitness lover, but one thing that was always challenging for me was weightlifting. When I began working out, I spent all my time doing cardio. I ran three miles every day and built up a good endurance while slimming down. What I was missing, however, was strength. Endurance helps you finish, but without strength, you can’t carry much. I began increasing my weight training, and as a result, I built muscle. I became stronger.
As Christians and as wealthy women, we need both endurance AND strength to finish the race God has set before us. God has a distance for you to go as an apostle who is sub to His mission and purpose for your life, and He wants you to reach the finish line having carried all that you were supposed to deliver to its destination.
This means you must cultivate endurance AND strength. Know this:
- God has empowered you to raise the children AND equip them with a knowledge of Him through your example.
- God has empowered you to be the "iron that sharpens iron" to your husband AND his soft place to land.
- God has empowered you to complete school AND to use your degree to build the business that allows you to inspire others.
God has empowered you to finish well, as well as to have everything you should have once you finish. You’ve been given a gift of empowerment that includes endurance and strength.
With this in mind, we can develop a new appreciation for resistance. We can even adopt a new perspective on our past experiences because not everything painful is bad for us. Some of it built necessary muscle. Some of it gave you the strength to enlarge your container and receive more from God. And God promises that even if it is bad, He will cause it to work together for good on your behalf.
Without this resistance, you may finish, but you may not finish with all that you were intended to carry to the finish line. With resistance, you can rest assured that what you endured built the spiritual muscle necessary to increase the size of the container and ensure you are strong enough to hold it.
With little muscle or spiritual strength - resentment for your past, living in disappointment, carrying unforgiveness - your cup is small. God will fill it, but He will be left holding the rest of what He intended for you. If God continued to pour more into a small cup, it would overflow. If He gave you a larger container that you weren’t strong enough to hold, you would drop it when He filled it, and the blessing would be wasted.
With great spiritual strength - trusting continually in God, releasing and forgiving, walking in patience and kindness, submission and obedience as Jesus did - your cup transforms into a reservoir, and you develop the strength necessary to hold a container large enough for the blessing He intended for you.
manifestHERdaily Question of the Day: Where do I need to develop the strength to hold a larger container?
Affirmation of the Day:
I am a wealthy woman who prospers, and I continue prospering as my soul prospers. God is positioning me for strength, and I can do all things through Him because He is strengthening me. I am able. I am sure. I am positioned for success. There is an awareness in my spirit that God is sustaining me in all things. I am assured by the Holy Spirit that He is with me, directing my steps in alignment with His will.
