Speak Well: Learning the Language of God

DAY 7 OF 7

Day 7: Prophecy

Devotional:

In February 2019, I attended Intervarsity Christian Fellowship’s Annual Black Campus Ministries Conference. At the end of the first session, the speaker felt led to pray for everyone in the room individually. There were hundreds of college students from all over California standing in line to receive prayer. When the speaker got to me, he began to speak over my life and my situation. He spoke about things that I had never told anyone, and he was very specific concerning what would come to pass in the future.

This was the first time that I had ever experienced a genuine prophetic word. I grew up in the era of “miracle water” and “sowing for a word” (if you know, you know) which warped my view of true miracles and prophecy. I always felt that these things were exaggerated and borderline psychic or fortune-telling.

As I’ve grown in God, I’ve learned that God confirms everything He says. If He said it, you could always find evidence of it in His Word. If you noticed over the past 7 days, I gave a Scripture example for every way that God has spoken to me to show you that it could be traced back directly to the Source. Anything that God tells you will be confirmed in His Word.

Scripture Breakdown:

Prophecy is proof that Jesus not only exists, but it distinguishes the God in Him. Hebrews 2 was written to prove the distinction between Jesus and the angels. It also shows us the importance of building a close relationship with God so that we don’t miss when He speaks regarding His Instructions for us.

Discernment is your portion. Speak Well.

D's 3 Keys

D’s 3 Keys are tools that I created to help us become fluent in the Language of God. The three keys below will aid in our ability to understand how God speaks through prophecy.

1. Position yourself to receive from God. Don’t discount the vessel God chooses to use to minister to you.

2. Read God’s Word daily to become familiar with His Voice.

3. Take everything to God in prayer. If you are uncertain about anything, seek God for clarity.

Conclusion:

I have provided you all with several ways in which God can speak. Although I have shared my experience with you, God is not limited in how He speaks. We serve a multilingual God who will speak directly to you in the language that you are fluent in. I encourage you to open yourself up to receive what God might be saying to you in this season. Remember that God confirms everything in His Word. Always seek clarity, understanding, and confirmation. My prayer is that you were blessed through my transparency and that you will now and forever more Speak Well.
