Full of It! Living a Life FULL of Faith.Sýnishorn
When we are in trials and want to cling to God's promises, we need to know those promises so that we know what we can cling to! When we are faced with the day-to-day exhaustion of life’s frustrations, we need to know the strength of God through his word, which gives us faith for the unseen ahead, that he will still sustain us through the mundane routine that the enemy can use so easily. When we don’t know his Word and don’t seek it, we start to question our faith. If you don’t know the word, you won’t truly know God. Because the Word is God. And if you don’t know God, then you won’t ever learn to trust him.
In Hebrews 3, we read a passage that is referring to God speaking of the Israelites in the book of Numbers. God is saying, don’t harden your hearts like the Israelites on the journey to the promised land. God was with them on the journey – he led them through the wilderness and provided for their every need. But the Israelites got tired, so they went to Moses and asked him why he had led them out of Egypt to the forsaken wilderness land. They complained that they would have been better off as slaves in Egypt! They lost their focus in the midst of the trial and lost faith that God would fulfill his promise to them. And here in Hebrews 3, scripture uses them as an example, saying don’t be like the Israelites! Don’t forget how far He has brought you – don’t get bitter thinking about how hard you have it. Have there ever been moments in your life when you have prayed for things and gotten them, and then it went sour, and you hardened your heart against the blessing?
You know, Jesus could have chosen to forgo the cross – the pain and the suffering, but he didn’t! He was faithful to God so that he could be faithful to us. There isn’t anything that Jesus hasn’t seen or hasn’t felt. And because of his suffering - scripture says he can come to our aid in the midst of our suffering. We are assured that he will not only meet our needs, but he’ll understand them because he has been there. And that is what builds faith through life’s challenges.
