Discovery Pathway Classes - Baptism and Spirit-Filled Living

DAY 5 OF 30

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.

Ephesians 2:8

Baptism is a symbolic reminder of God’s amazing pursuit of you. Jesus left the splendor and majesty of heaven to come to earth. He lived a sinless, perfect life yet still died on the cross for you. Jesus died to pay for your sins. However, he didn’t stay dead, for he rose from the dead on the third day! He claimed victory over sin and death! He rose from the dead to build a bridge between you and God, allowing you to have a personal relationship with your Father in heaven.

This was all part of God’s amazing rescue story; His rescue story for you. He couldn’t stand not being able to have a relationship with you. He longed for you to know Him. There is nothing we could have done to build a bridge to God. Only by His grace did Jesus come to earth to die for our sins.

What is Grace? Grace, in a biblical sense, is undeserved favor. God shows us favor upon favor that we do not deserve. He didn’t have to rescue us from our sins, yet He did. John 3:16 reminds that love is the foundation of God's grace toward us. There is just something about you that God is crazy about! As you read the passage from Ephesians, think about the amazing gift you have received from God, that is Jesus. Thank Him for His infinite grace and love for you. Rejoice that God is crazy about you and pursued a relationship with you that you did not deserve! By His grace you have been saved!
