Holy Night and Little Star: A 5-Day Reading PlanSýnishorn
Day 3
“But the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.’” — Luke 1:30
God doesn’t get mad at Mary for being scared. The angel reminds her that being seen and chosen by God is a marvelous thing. There’s no need to be terrified of the future when we are part of God’s family. It does mean, though, that we’re called to do what God does. What a joy it is to play even a small part in sharing God’s love with people who are sad, lonely, or in need! This is our calling, too, as children who belong to God.
God might not be asking us to do as powerful a deed as that one, but the Bible teaches that it’s also good to do small things for Him.
Discussion
What are some ways your family shows neighbors, relatives, friends, or strangers that God loves them? Can you think of something you can do for someone who is lonely, sad, or in need this Christmas?
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for Your love for us. It is truly an amazing favor to be part of Your family. Because we belong to You, we trust in You with hope for our future. We want to do good things for others and tell others about You because You are so good. Help us to think of ways to be like You this Christmas.
About this Plan
