Holy Night and Little Star: A 5-Day Reading PlanSýnishorn
Inspired by Mitali Perkin’s Holy Night and Little Star, a Christmas picture book that’s all about saying “yes” to God, let’s look at Christmas through the eyes of young Mary, whom God chose to play a very special role in the birth of King Jesus.
Day 1
“The angel went to her and said, ‘Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.’” — Luke 1:28
Mary was going about her usual life, doing chores, helping her parents, and spending time with friends and family. Suddenly, an angel appeared and told her that God had picked her for a special favor. This “favor” would mean that she could never go back to her everyday life again. Everything was about to change.
Discussion
Describe one or two things you do every day that you really like. Why do you like them? How would it feel if you couldn’t do them anymore?
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for our everyday lives. There are so many good things we do every day. Help us not to take them for granted but to have grateful hearts and to know You are the Giver of all good things.

About this Plan
At Christmas, we remember how God brings peace and joy to the world. The first Christmas was challenging for a young Jewish girl named Mary. God asked her to do something that seemed hard—to give birth to a baby who would become the Savior of the world. Are you ready to say yes to God this season?
