Called to Mission

DAY 3 OF 7

Response: Being immediate in our “yes”

If we’ve heard the Lord calling us in any capacity, our best response is to do whatever the Lord is telling us to do.

Stay. Go. Give. Live. Die.

These are all proper responses in answering a call from God.

In fact, these are all responses that Jesus would and has given all of us. Jesus is always calling us to be and do different things at different times. While our response to God calling us may look different in action, it should always display our commitment to following Jesus. He has already graced us to do just that.

If you’re concerned about making the appropriate response, don’t trip on that — that’s what the grace that Christ provides is for. History shows us in the Bible that we’re in good company with guys like Peter, who at times struggled with consistently making Godly decisions. Over time, we believe what was also clear was His commitment to picking up His cross after it was dropped.

If you’re also concerned about being equipped to follow the Lord, don’t trip on that either. Jeremiah was both called by God while also being culturally too young, inexperienced, and lacked the courage needed to fulfill God’s calling on him. Not only did God reassure him of His support, but He even took it a step further and literally put in his mouth the words to say. And guess what — Jeremiah did exactly what He was graced to do.

If the Lord has called you, trust and believe that God will also provide the grace needed to commit to following Him. Trusting that the Lord is sufficient is what allows us to stay committed to Jesus. May the Lord aid us to keep trusting and stay committed.

Questions to ponder:

  1. Am I willing to surrender my own plans, desires, and comforts in order to obediently follow God's call, even if it requires staying, going, giving, living, or even dying for His sake?
  2. How can I seek and rely on God's grace, knowing that He equips and provides what is necessary for me to fulfill His calling in my life, despite any limitations, fears, or doubts I may have?

About this Plan

Called to Mission

We were all called to live on mission. When God calls us to something, there tends to be an internal process that we all go through – discovery, response, acceptance, trust, safety, discomfort, and confidence. Together, we'll walk through each step of the process and explore how God can use our "ordinary, mundane" lives for purpose that extends past ourselves...
