Retirement Rocks: A 14-Day Reading Plan for All That Free TimeSýnishorn
Donna gazed at the digital map and tried to figure out a plan of action. If she and Louise made New Braunfels, Texas, the first stop on their road trip and then cut up through the country, they could stop at a wonderful little outlet mall she’d heard about. And from there they could take a scenic drive to Brenham, Texas. Maybe they could visit the ice cream factory when they got there. Yum. Or that Antique Rose Emporium. It sounded lovely.
Maybe you’re like Donna. You’re in discovery mode. Every road trip presents a unique opportunity to explore—new places, stores, restaurants, and all that nature has to offer. You’re snapping photos of flowers and pausing to drink in the gorgeous views. You’re lingering in antique shops and enjoying hole-in-the-wall restaurants recommended by locals in places you’ve never visited before. You’re having intimate conversations with friends, going deeper than you ever have. And you’re doing it all on your time, drinking in the wonder of the world around you.
In short, you’re on a journey to rediscover God’s creation—all the parts you didn’t have time for before. And you’re having a blast while doing it.
Isn’t that just like God, to give you an adventure like this? He’s so good! Your precious heavenly Father longs to energize you in new and fresh ways and give you a perspective like His—one that sees the world in all its splendor and glory. (It’s pretty amazing, after all! Just look around you and you’ll see how remarkable this planet really is!)
What parts of the world are you ready to rediscover? Where will you begin? Put on your adventure cap and start mapping out a plan! There are plenty of fun roads ahead.
Lord, thank You for showing me that I can rediscover the world around me! There are places I’ve not been, people I’ve not seen, things I’ve not done. It’s not too late! I’m ready to step out into the great adventure that You have ahead for me. Amen.
