What the Bible Has to Say About ClothingSýnishorn
Do not worry about what you will wear
“Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” (Matthew 6:25)
Do you ever stand sighing in front of your closet because you "have nothing to wear"? Or do you feel uncomfortable in a group of people because you are afraid of being out of place with your clothing? Before you know it, these things can completely consume you. When clothing becomes an obsession, you can spend a lot of time, energy, and money on it and still feel uneasy.
The Lord Jesus warns against this. He reminds us that food and clothing are not the most important things in life. Therefore, they should not hold the highest priority. There are other things that are more important: the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). If we focus on that, God will also give us other things we need in daily life. As an example, Jesus mentions the flowers in the field that look beautiful because God clothes them with care. “Will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith," He asks His audience.
Let that question sink in today. Do you entrust your life, including your food and clothing, to God’s care? Or do these things constantly keep you busy? Does your attitude toward clothing match Jesus’ words?

About this Plan
You will not find clothing style advice in the Bible. Nor will you find the latest fashions. Yet God's Word has a lot to say about clothing: why we wear clothes at all, how we should dress, and how God offers us beautiful, spotless clothing to cover our sins. Will you read with us?
