THRIVE Mom Devotional Series Part 2: The Skills to ThriveSýnishorn
Day 5: Stay Accountable To God and Others
In our last devotional, we chatted about the highest form of accountability—being accountable to yourself. After all, you're the MVP (Most Valuable Person) in your own life. Today, we'll take it up a notch and talk about the importance of accountability to others—your buddies, mentors, and coaches—and, of course, accountability to God.
The Bible has some awesome scriptures that remind us of the importance of these different levels of accountability. Check these out:
Romans 14:12: "So then each of us will give an account of himself to God."
1 Thessalonians 5:11: "Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing."
Proverbs 27:17: "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another."
These verses show us how we can cheer each other on and live lives full of love and goodness.
Let's start with the perks of accountability to others:
- Your performance will skyrocket: You'll step up your game when you know others are holding you accountable. Studies even show that publicly sharing your goals gives you a 65% chance of success. But with a dedicated accountability partner? Boom! Your chances shoot up to a whopping 95%!
- Honest feedback galore: Your accountability partner should be your cheerleader and truth-teller. They'll give you the real talk, both the good stuff and the constructive criticism you need to grow.
- Staying on the right path: Having an accountability partner keeps you focused and productive. With their support, you won't get easily distracted from your goals. They'll be there to steer you in the right direction when things get wonky.
- Grounded like a boss: Accountability helps you stay grounded and reminds you of your goals. It prevents you from getting too caught up in day-to-day stuff and helps you achieve those short-term victories.
Now, how do you choose an accountability partner? Here are some tips:
- Find someone with killer self-discipline.
- Go for an objective partner—not a close friend or family member.
- Pick someone you admire and want to impress.
- Define your goals, plans, and progress-sharing methods.
- Create a growth plan and timeline together with your accountability partner.
When it comes to accountability to God, it's similar to being accountable to yourself. Knowing that we answer to God and aiming to please Him with our lives and choices keeps us on the right track. It's all about staying true to our words and living with integrity.
So, how will you choose to be accountable to God and others? How can we make decisions that help us thrive?
Let's wrap this up with a prayer: Lord, we desire to live holy and pleasing lives, making an impact and bearing fruit as we thrive. Grant us the grace to be accountable to ourselves, one another, and You in all things. May our lives always bring honor to Your name. Amen.
Keep thriving, fabulous moms! You're doing amazing things!
