Holy Spirit: From Creation to Companion Sýnishorn
All the different things we hear about the Holy Spirit can be confusing. God, the Father, and Jesus, the Son, are often discussed. But mystery and misunderstanding surround the third person of the Trinity.
When I became a Christian, I decided to go to the Bible and research the Holy Spirit for myself. In this plan, I will share the results of my research and some practical and Biblical applications for activating the Holy Spirit's power in our daily Christian walk.
Across the world, many people are very aware of the spiritual realm. In contrast, others think anyone who believes in the supernatural should have evolved more.
Elisha, the Old Testament prophet who lived around 800 BC, knew that we exist physically and spiritually. In 2 Kings 6, an army with horses and chariots had come to capture him, and it encircled the city. Elisha's attendant was scared and cried, "What shall we do?"
Elisha told him not to be afraid because the army with them was more significant than the one outside the city. And then Elisha prayed that God would open the servant's eyes to see. When the Lord opened the servant's eyes, he saw that the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire surrounding Elisha.
And in the New Testament, the Apostle Paul was very aware of the spiritual realm as well. In Ephesians 6: 12, he wrote that our struggle isn't against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Jesus spoke definitively about the Holy Spirit's character, and He did not put a time limit on His roles. So, these are the questions I hope to answer briefly in this plan:
- Who is the Holy Spirit?
- What role does He play anymore, and do we still need Him?
- What does it mean to have the Holy Spirit in our lives?
Prayer:
Father, please teach me about Your Spirit. Please clear up any misconceptions I have about who He is and His roles in my life. As I go through this devotional plan, would You bring a laser focus to the things I need to learn about the Holy Spirit? Help me to see and interact with the Holy Spirit in the ways You want me to, and not based on what others think. Please help me to be open and teachable. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
