So You Think You're Not Good Enough?Sýnishorn
You'll never make the grade, so quit now
There are plenty of people who will tell you you are not cut out for the Christian life. They will say you will never make the grade.
But here is a question. What is the “grade” to be a Christian? I am certain that those who level such accusations at you have no idea. And any Christian will tell you that ALL Christians are people who have been broken by this life and are in need of a Savior.
This is the key to the whole issue. God has sent His Son into the world to save you from sin and the pits of despair, trouble, and tribulation. Such troubles are all this world has to offer.
But Christ has overcome the world, and God offers us salvation, not because of anything you or I have done or can do. Salvation is offered as a free gift by His grace.
When we understand this, it shuts down anyone who says, “You will never make the grade!”
The reality is that before coming to Christ, no one in the world was up to His standard. No one can possibly “make the grade” by themselves. The scripture says, “None is righteous,” and by the way, that includes all of the “holier than thou” people who are putting you down.
But Christ has redeemed us from sin and given us salvation. As far as I can tell, that is “the grade” we all aspire to. We can’t earn it, buy it, or do anything for it. Just have faith in Jesus Christ.
As we look to Christ, we must hold onto our faith and not shrink back when the devil throws barbs at us. When we remain strong and stand in our faith, we receive salvation and life from God.
We need endurance because we will be attacked. People who oppose or do not understand the faith will try to put you down, especially if you are a new Christian. It is the devil who wants to drag you back into your old life.
But then, what did that life have to offer? Stop and think of a moment. It’s that past life you are trying to escape from in Jesus Christ! The past life that had you in despair, strife, and trouble is what brought you to seek the better way in Christ Jesus. There is only misery in the past, but the future holds hope for salvation and a better life.
Call to Action:
When you came to Christ and believed in what God has done through the death and resurrection of Jesus, you already “made the grade.” Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
About this Plan
Have you ever thought, “I’m not good enough?” What about any of these other thoughts? I’m not worthy of being a Christian. Other people are better Christians than I am. I’m the worst sinner ever. God could never forgive what I have done. God isn’t listening to my prayers. These are attacks of the devil. This plan will show how to defeat them all and more.
