You Can Do This! 7 Steps That Make a Big DifferenceSýnishorn
How are your muscles?
Have you ever heard of the Energizer Bunny, the mascot of Energizer batteries that just keeps going and going? That's what I'm like if you put me on a treadmill…I'll run until I can't run anymore! Strength training, on the other hand, isn't my favorite thing.
So often I've heard, "Déborah, you should do something about that...". But the word "should" still leaves options open, doesn't it? Perhaps instead of seeing "should" as an option, we can see it as an opportunity!
To be honest, I've had to learn the hard way. Once I passed out while jogging, and another time I lost my lunch. When I signed up at a new gym, the topic came up in conversation. The owner told me, "No wonder that happened. You haven't trained your muscles to take all that pressure. Your muscles are the engine that keeps everything going."
How often do we try to keep everything in our lives running at top speed without building the right muscles? We run from A to B, get heavily involved in church or a good cause, practice charity—in other words, do exactly what the Bible says. But at the same time, we often don't take the time to work on our personal relationship with Jesus to exercise that spiritual muscle that takes the pressure off and keeps everything going.
How do we train our spiritual muscles? By spending time with God on a regular basis! Time when He shows us what to do and what not to do. Time when He reminds us of our motivation. Time when He simply gifts us with renewed strength and joy for what He's called us to do.
There's a verse in the Bible that I encourage you to put into practice today: "Let us search out and examine our ways, and turn back to the LORD" (Lamentations 3:40, NKJV). Check to see if you've built up enough faith muscles to guard your heart in all that you do.
Because YOU are precious!
You are a miracle!
