5 Ways to Show Your Partner You CareSýnishorn
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
Showing your significant other you care by loving in the style that Corinthians 13:4-7 encourages can deepen your relationship. It's important to think of love as a verb rather than an emotion, and this passage gives good guidance as to what love looks like in action.
Verse Four
In verse four, we're called to love with patience and kindness. How often are we quick to point out our partner's mistakes or get frustrated instead of letting things go? Being patient and kind in good times and challenging ones shows you care. Verse four also mentions that love isn’t jealous or proud–instead, it is humble and trusting.
Verse Five
In verse five, we’re reminded that love isn’t rude or selfish. Putting your significant other before yourself is how to show you care. And when they do the same for you, both people get what they need while loving the other well. Verse five also reminds us that love doesn’t get easily angered or keep records of wrongs–instead, love forgives.
Verse Six
In verse six, we realize that loving our significant other means not rejoicing in wrongdoing but choosing truth over prideful judgment.
Verse Seven
In verse seven, we’re told that love always protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres. So, you can show your significant other you care about them by protecting them physically and emotionally, trusting and being trustworthy, and persevering through hard times because of the hope found in Jesus.
By following the guidelines offered by 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, you can show up for your partner and demonstrate genuine care, respect, and love for them–the kind of love God calls us to that honors Him.
