Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 5Sýnishorn
We all know the famous verse, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” When you read the full chapter, you discover that Jesus said these words with his final breath on the cross. Some theologians believe that this was the most awful moment for Jesus, and this includes the physical pain he had to go through. The reason they believe this is that for the first time, Jesus did not feel the presence of his Father by him because God had to look away as his Son was busy paying the ultimate price and took all our sins upon him.
We tend to look at this and forget the bigger picture. Here is the GOOD NEWS! Because of what Jesus did in that moment, experiencing separation from God, and paying the price, we have this promise: If we believe in Him, we will never have to experience that separation from God because of our sin, but only intimacy.
