Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 5Sýnishorn
An incredible thing worth mentioning here is that Peter was speaking to people whose intent was harming him, but he still extended the invitation for salvation. When we look at salvation, it is important to understand that because of sin, we require salvation and that can only be found in the person of Jesus Christ.
In this verse, Peter is referring to Jesus as the Cornerstone. In building terms, the cornerstone is normally the first stone that is lain. Everything else is built on or around it. Faith and salvation centre around the person of Jesus Christ.
This is a call to surrender as much as it is a call to salvation. The question that needs to be asked is whether Christ really is the cornerstone of your life. Have you handed over the reins of your life to him?
Have an honest conversation with God and ask his Spirit to make you aware of the love Jesus has for you but also reflect daily on your love for Jesus and thank him that he is mighty to save.
