Surviving Divorce

DAY 2 OF 3

Understanding God’s Love and Purpose for You

Unfortunately, divorce is shockingly widespread in today’s society. Even though God hates divorce, it happened in the time of Jesus and Moses as well as our day. To deal with a divorce, believers must cling to Jesus Christ by taking solace in His word. We can understand God’s love and his purpose for us when we are going through divorce by knowing the following:

  • There is hope.

Absolute helplessness is among the first and most powerful feelings experienced during a divorce battle. You made a vow to stay together before God, and your family and friends, but now you’re divorced. Satan’s primary tool against believers during this challenging time is discouragement. Despite the horrible agony that a divorce causes, there is hope and grace in Christ. Allow God to care for your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs (Psalm 42:5).

You may move past your divorce and seek God’s calling in your life because, in Christ, all things are achievable.

  • There is peace.

Peace will frequently seem far away amid the calamity and mayhem of a divorce. But in turbulent days, serenity comes from putting your faith in the Lord, not your emotions. When you wake up every morning and focus on God’s goodness, He will give you His perfect serenity to bring you through it. It is not a place of peace but an ongoing learning process to trust God’s faithfulness through the unknown places of life (Isaiah 26:3).

  • There is joy.

It seems hard to believe that there can be joy through this devastating experience. However, the Lord knows how to make joy live in His heart during this time. His strength to give you joy amid divorce comes from the Holy Spirit. Although the experience and disappointment of divorce are hard to bear, through Christ, that sting of sadness and pain will eventually lessen, and joy will come to the fore (Psalm 30:5).

  • There is a future.

Divorce will feel like the end of the world. It is the end of a relationship, and everything promised. However, the Lord is above your divorce, He can cause all grace to abound and move you forward by faith. Your future is not limited or restricted to divorce; it is good to know that through Christ, you have a calling and a purpose to fulfill despite this situation (Jeremiah 29:11).

You may feel that you will never get out of this divorce, but all things are possible in Christ. The Lord will never leave you or forsake you in times of suffering. Go beyond simply dealing with a divorce and start living a victorious life in Christ Jesus. I pray God will help us get over our divorce traumas.
