He Said, She Says: The Power of Praying God's WordSýnishorn
What He Said About Fear
You know how most little kids pick their noses? Cole NEVER did. I mean never. If he saw another kid in kindergarten doing it, he’d start gagging. So, if we went to a friend’s house for dinner, I never added “don’t pick your nose” to a list of etiquette reminders. Sure, “don’t pass gas” was in there, but never “don’t pick your nose.” Why? Because he wasn’t prone to do it. It wasn’t a part of who he was and is.
Just like I know the ins and outs of my son, God, too, knows the ins and outs of His daughters. He knew we’d be prone to fear and worry.
I’ve spoken with ladies all around the US – ladies whose fears are more powerful than monsters under the bed or a scary campfire story. Their fears make sleep a thing of the past. Fears that are deep rooted from family situations or from recent crisis. Fears that could, humanly speaking, actually come to pass.
I’ve spoken with mamas who have lost their babies, with women who were hurt by an ex-husband, and with teenage girls who are tormented by words of former friends. Can I tell you something? Their fears stare them in the face daily. Their fears have voices and raise weapons. Their fears rob them of the ability to do daily tasks and steal their joy and peace and sleep. Their fears debilitate and create sickness and cause confusion.
I don’t know where you fit in. I don’t know if fear is just a fleeting thought or if fear is dictating your every move. The good news is – I don’t have to know where you fit in, because the Word of God is one-size-fits-all. It is a weapon for your biggest battles and your smallest struggles. It’s a weapon you can pick up at a moment’s notice, right when you need it the most, even if you haven’t used it in years.
Over and over throughout His word, God gives us a list of reminders-turned-weapons about worry. He knew we’d be prone to fear and racing thoughts, so He gave us the following verses as weapons. Proclaim them and say them in moments of fear.
