100 Days of Prayer for Women: What to Pray During Your Busiest Days by Carolyn Larsen

DAY 5 OF 7

Dear Father,

I confess that I spend way too much of my prayer time telling you what to do. I know you care about the things I’m worried about and afraid of. You care about the things that keep me awake at night. But where my prayers collapse is that instead of just telling you about a problem or worry—you know, giving it to you and then walking away, trusting that you will handle it in the best possible way—I bring up the topic and then spend the next half hour telling you how to fix it. It’s like, I think I’ve come up with a better plan than you can. There’s no trust in that behavior . . . only control issues and incredible arrogance. I’m so sorry.

Trusting you means believing that you can see over the mountain I’m trying to climb. You see the path ahead. You know what’s on the other side. You have a plan to help me, and anyone else involved learn more about you and grow a stronger faith.

So I’ll try to stop giving you a to-do list and instead just tell you what’s on my heart and then leave it. You’ll handle it in your way in your time. I trust you.

About this Plan

100 Days of Prayer for Women: What to Pray During Your Busiest Days by Carolyn Larsen

You live a busy life, juggling work, family, chores, and more. Challenges like difficult relationships, health concerns, deferred dreams, and loss come into this busy life. And also blessings, like a new job, a new baby, new friends, and new hobbies. All of these are things you can pray about. But maybe you're not sure how. Spend the next seven days learning to express yearning, praise, lament, and gratitude to God in the precious few extra minutes you have.
