Here I Am, Lord: Devotions from Time of GraceSýnishorn
Children Are a Miracle
Lord, how can I thank you enough for my children? I know, I know--I complain enough about them and scold them too much, but I am really and truly grateful that you honored us by giving them to our home.
When I was single, I guess I knew in theory that “sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him” (Psalm 127:3). But the reality is far more amazing. The nine months of wonder as a new life grew . . . the incredible process of childbirth . . . the first cries and first cuddles--Lord, how can anyone who has seen the drama in a birthing room stay an atheist?
My children are a heritage. They are a reward from you--help me always see them in that way. Thank you for their laughter, their foolishness, their innocence, their questions, their energy, and the amazing things that come out of their mouths.
Today I rededicate them to you. You designed and fashioned them, Father. Lord Jesus, you redeemed them. Spirit, you live in them. Keep them yours now and always. Keep their guardian angels on duty, as you have promised. Help them grow into adults who will find joy in serving you and building your kingdom. Lord, thank you for my miracle children.

About this Plan
God knows that our tongues and brains sometimes lack the words to say, and so he provided the beautiful book of Psalms in his Word to provide vocabulary for us to bring our thoughts and concerns to him. These devotions, one for each day of the month, use psalms to help you voice your needs and hurts and joys to the Lord.
