Hunger & Thirst

DAY 1 OF 4

Are You Thirsty?

If you are not thirsty you can't drink much. In the same way, if you are not hungry for God, how then can you get more of Him?

Think about this simple experiment: If you place a man in the desert and another near fresh springs after twenty-four hours and pull the two of them out and offer them a glass of cold water, the one from the hot desert will gulp down the water while the other probably won’t touch the glass. What is the difference? Thirst.

The problem is not with the water; the issue is how each person satisfies their thirst. Jesus says that anyone that thirsts should come. I want to challenge you to begin to thirst for and desire all that God wants to do in your life. Why? It is because the heavenly currency of The Kingdom is thirst and hunger. All other things are equal: you are saved, Jesus is the Lord of your life, and all that is intact. The only thing that will determine your advancement with God and how you fulfill your destiny is how thirsty you are for what God has for you.

Do you desire God’s word and what he has in store for you?

Two Christians: one is complacent, doesn't desire God and doesn't want to drink from the rivers of living water. The other is thirsty for God, running to God, and desiring God. One will be filled and the other will not be filled, though both are saved.

The currency, the heavenly currency of The Kingdom is hunger and thirst for the things of God.
