Daily Bible Reading – May 2022 God’s Renewing Word of PromiseSýnishorn
May 30
Introduction
Today’s reading delineates the covenant made by God to King David. The reading concludes with a testimony to God’s faithfulness.
Scripture Reading
Psalm 89:19-37
Today’s Key Verse: Psalm 89:26
He will say to me, ‘You are my father and my God; you are my protector and savior.’
Reflect
Verses 19-37 amplify and recall 2 Samuel 7:1-17 (the May 27 reading) about God’s promise to David that one of his descendants will always rule Israel. Reread verses 19-29. What promises are given? Reread verses 30-32. What are the consequences for disobeying God’s law? In what ways do verses 33-37 demonstrate God’s faithfulness? In what ways have your experienced God’s faithfulness?
Pray
Faithful God, I trust in your promises. You are my protector and Savior. Teach me to be obedient to your will and to live according to your commands. I thank and praise you for your steadfast love. Amen.
And now, join us in praying for Bible distribution efforts in China. Gracious God, we pray that those in China who seek to know you and who are coming to Christ will have access to Bibles of their own. We pray that this vast nation will remain open to the Bible and that you, loving God, will continue to create new opportunities for your Word to be heard, read, and embraced. And we thank you, God, for the faithful generosity of supporters who are helping to provide life-transforming Bibles to waiting hands and hearts in China. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Psalm 132: A psalm in praise of the Temple.
