5 Powerful Prayers to Strengthen the Hearts of Our StudentsSýnishorn
God’s Word
Let the competition begin! Wanting to incentivize our 8th-grade confirmation class to value God’s word, our pastor set up a contest. We were tasked to memorize one verse from each of the 27 books of the New Testament. Driven by the challenge, I was all in, especially because first prize was a pair of concert tickets. After a few weeks, I had won the competition! The concert, however, was definitely not the highlight of my year. In fact, I may have lost some of my hearing that night. But continuing to hide God’s word in my heart has been an invaluable prize these last 42 years. In our schools, where many voices are vying for the attention of the students, may the word of God be the voice they trust, value, and believe.
As we continue to pray powerful prayers to strengthen the hearts of our students, we believe that they will build their lives on the firm foundation of God’s word.
Praise our God, the Word
“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
Jesus, You are the Word who became flesh and lived among us. We praise You that You were sent by the Father to communicate His love to a lost world.
Pray for Hearts that Value God’s Word
Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
God, Your word is powerful, alive, and active. It gives light and judges hearts. We ask that in our school community students will value Your word, which will give them guidance and daily direction.
Pray for Hearts to Obey God’s Word
“Everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24
May students act with wisdom, hearing Your words and putting them into practice. As obedience to Your word is lived out, their lives will be built on the firm foundation of the truth of Your word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan
In this devotional, you will connect with God through faith-filled, scripture-based prayers which will strengthen students. In a culture where screens are replacing human interaction and truth is relative, we need to take our rightful place in the spiritual battle to see kids rescued and set free. Let’s be strategic and focused on behalf of our school communities as we “devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” (Colossians 4:2)
