5 Powerful Prayers to Strengthen the Hearts of Our Students

DAY 2 OF 5

Serve

Whose name comes to your mind when you hear the word serve? My thoughts immediately go to an 18-year-old girl who left her home and family in Macedonia to embrace a life of abject poverty in Calcutta, India. Called to serve the poorest of the poor, Mother Teresa established Missionaries of Charity, an organization dedicated to feeding, washing, and serving those living on the streets, allowing them to die with dignity. Emptying herself, she became the hands and feet of Jesus to those the world had discarded. She experienced joy in the midst of struggle while she served. In her words, “Nothing makes you happier than when you really reach out in mercy to someone who is hurt badly.”

Today as we continue to pray powerful prayers to strengthen the hearts of our students, we trust that God will fill them with joy as they learn to serve.

Praise God, Who Serves

“…but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death even death on a cross.” Philippians 2:7,8

We praise You, Jesus, for becoming a man and taking on the nature of a servant in order to give Your life for those You created. What great love!

Pray for Hearts Willing to Serve

From Matthew 23:11 “The greatest among you will be your servant.”

Lord, would You raise up a generation of sons and daughters who serve You by serving others. Lift the eyes of students beyond themselves to see and meet the needs of others.

We Pray for Those Who Serve Daily

“If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well.” Romans 12:7

We pray that our students and teachers would find great joy in serving one another from hearts of love. May they serve well and teach well, receiving all that they need from You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

5 Powerful Prayers to Strengthen the Hearts of Our Students

In this devotional, you will connect with God through faith-filled, scripture-based prayers which will strengthen students. In a culture where screens are replacing human interaction and truth is relative, we need to take our rightful place in the spiritual battle to see kids rescued and set free. Let’s be strategic and focused on behalf of our school communities as we “devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” (Colossians 4:2)
