See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. 1 John 3:1-2 NLT
As humans, we spend so much time and energy trying to figure out where we belong. How many times have you asked yourself questions like, Does this person like me?Does my family accept me? Does my job appreciate me? Do people in my school want to be with me? And it’s natural. It’s a part of our human nature.
As human beings, we’re meant to belong to something. Scripture says we’re created in the image of God. We were created for a purpose. But if we don’t know Jesus—if we don’t yet know His love for us—we can spend a lifetime trying to figure out the place we belong and not find it. We end up living life with a core piece of our heart missing. But when we come to the truth, when we realize the incredible love our God has shown us on the cross and what He has invited us into, there’s a newfound belonging. It’s truly in Him that we find where we belong and who we were meant to be.
If you don’t know Him yet, He’s calling out to you. The God who created you, the God who sacrificed Himself for you, is calling out to you, inviting you into His family. Inviting you into His house. And if you do know him, and maybe you still find yourself searching, be reminded of the sacrifice that was made for you.
All of the power of heaven is afforded to you right now. And you get to live in victory! We no longer have to search for that missing piece. That missing piece, His name is Jesus. Even now, you are a child of God!
If you don’t know Him, the invitation still stands: He’s waiting for you. He’s calling out to you.
Be encouraged by this Scripture in Romans:
And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:10-11 NLT
