DAY 4 OF 21

Day 4: Come and Be Restored

Come Before Him in Worship: Consider, as you come before our holy God, all that Jesus went through to reconcile you to himself. Take some time to remember the kind of death that he died so that you could live (Matthew 27:26-66). Thank him for his great love and that by his death and resurrection he has broken the power of sin and death for us!

Reflect: From this verse, we understand that our sin causes separation in fellowship with our God. We are the ones that turn away from God. David says this about his sin with Bathsheba, “When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.” Our sin should bother us and cause us to be unsettled! But see what God desires. He calls us to turn from it and to come to him in repentance! For, in doing so, we will find his compassionate and abundant pardon. In him, we find the fountains of living waters that, in our sin, we leave behind for the broken cisterns of this world (Jer. 2:13).

Respond in Prayer: As you come to the Father in an attitude of repentance, remember that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Jesus has taken the penalty of your sin upon himself so that we can come before the Father without shame.

Father, what mindsets or behaviors are dividing my heart from You? Search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts. And see if there be any grievous way in me and lead me in the way everlasting (Psalm 139:23-24)!

Jesus, because of your sacrifice, I am now free to live in unhindered union with our Father again. Thank you for making a way for us! I choose to receive your garments of holiness as my own.
