Our God Is ____ ?Sýnishorn
Introduction to this Bible Plan:
1 John is the first of 3 short letters written by the disciple who Jesus loved, John. 1 John is thought to have been written to the churches around Ephesus in around 90AD. It has strong encouragements of the incredible salvation and love found in God, through the Messiah Jesus Christ. He shows us a strong contrast of light vs dark, Christ vs antichrists (or spirits that are against Jesus), righteousness (being right with God) vs sin, and the truth of God. In this short letter we start to see and grasp the magnitude of God’s perfect character, and how much his love has radically been shown to us through Jesus. OUR GOD IS LOVE.
OUR GOD IS ____?
Ever heard someone retell a story about a topic they are truly passionate about? Whether fishing, or lawn bowls, their eyes are wide open and passionate, their voice carries emotion and they are deeply engrossed in recounting the action. Verse 1-3, thought to be a hymn sung by the early church, highlights further the evidence for Jesus’ resurrection: “We saw with our very own eyes…Our hands touched him.” John, as a disciple of Jesus and one of his closest 3, was a first-hand witness to the whole gospel story unfolding. He calls Jesus the “Life Giver,” or the “Word of Life.” There is a beautiful connection with this verse and Genesis 1 and John 1, which talks about God the father, God the Son and God the Spirit, all being at the beginning of time. This gospel is not a new plan, it was formed at the beginning of time. The perfect love story, where Jesus takes our place, and gifts us right relationship with God.
Reflection:
Mediate for a moment or two on this incredible love story. God’s redemption plan, through Jesus, to make a way for you to have relationship with Him. OUR GOD IS LOVE.
Prayer:
Thank you, Jesus that you are the Life-giver. You bring life and love to every part of my life. I believe you are truth and I see the great things you have done in my life.
