Lazarus, Come Forth Out of the TombSýnishorn
Come Forth Out Of The Tomb
There’s an important detail that we shouldn't overlook concerning the resurrection of Lazarus. Let’s examine the Messiah’s command: "Lazarus, come forth." If Jesus had only said, "Come forth," surely all of the other dead buried around Lazarus' tomb would have been resurrected as well. For this reason, Jesus was specific, calling His dead friend by name. The Almighty does the same with you; He calls you by name such as to leave no doubt that the responsibility falls on you to follow His divine commands. He has the power to order that which is hopeless and dead in your life to come alive, if only you can believe in Him.
God sent His Son to set us free. Many times we allow the enemy to wrap us in a way by tying our hands so that we lose interest in opening the Scriptures. We’re left distracted from the work that awaits us in the vineyard of our Father. The Adversary wants to tie our feet and keep us from congregating, our steps are easily hindered and then strayed away from the house of God. These cunning strategies, little by little, can paralyze us and lead us into spiritual tombs. The great weight of guilt and shame can have a dying effect over time, like the stone that enclosed the tomb of Lazarus, which can finally lead you to a spiritual death.
How many times has God called you by name and said, “Walk!”? How many more times is he going to have to insist on calling you by name and ordering you to do what you have been called to do for his glory and his honor? It’s time to shake yourself awake from the dream that has you paralyzed before this leads you to a grave and brings you a spiritual death; a lost soul. Listen to the voice of the One who calls: “Come forth!”, “Come out of the grave!”, “Walk!”; untie your hands and feet and return to the right path. Overcome satan’s plan by doing everything God’s called you to do, that which he has impeded you from doing until now. There’s so much work left to carry out in God’s kingdom. You’ve been given your gifts and talents to utilize them and feel alive while doing so. Remove the stone and be free to praise and glorify the Name of the Great I Am.
Think about these questions:
- How can you compare natural death and spiritual death?
- How can Satan bind you in your life?
- What does it mean to be in a “spiritual grave''?
