Let Your Light ShineSýnishorn
What Drives Your Shine?
I used to be part of a kids’ singing group called Kids of the Kingdom. We would travel around singing at festivals, nursing homes and churches. We even recorded a tape – yes you read correct, a tape (I’m that old!).
Part of our repertoire of songs included ‘This Little Light of Mine’. I loved this song. It had a really fun beat that I couldn’t help but groove along to. My favourite part of the routine was when, in pairs, we would spin around to face the front as we sang a certain day of the week.
The days went something like this:
On a Monday He gave me the gift of love
On a Tuesday His peace came down from above
On a Wednesday He told me just what to say
On a Thursday He told me just how to pray
On a Friday He gave me a little more faith
On a Saturday He gave me a lot more grace
On a Sunday He gave me the power divine
To let my little light shine.
More than anything, this song sings of the consistent nature of God in His giving. He gives us His love and peace. He provides support and guidance. He encourages our faith and showers us with grace.
And if that wasn’t enough, He then endows us with the power to be a beacon of light for Him in this world!
Our shining here on earth has nothing to do with anything we bring to the table. Our shining for God should be a direct reflection of the nature of God and our deep gratitude for all He is and all He has done. What drives your shine?

About this Plan
God calls us to shine our light in a world that’s full of darkness. As we live out each day, our lives need to shine to bring attention to the Saviour King who will bring healing, restoration, unity, peace and hope to a world desperate for it. They just need us to light the way.
