Captive No More: Freedom From Pain, Shame and Guilt

DAY 6 OF 30

What Is Spiritual Freedom?

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:1

You can know spiritual freedom from the negative effects of past personal pain. God didn’t create you to live a life below the radar. He loves you and wants you to know Him on an intimate level so that you’ll trust Him enough to pursue His will for your life. The lack of spiritual freedom is a condition where past problems with continuing shame, blame, and guilt prevent you from being comfortable in God’s presence.

Being free also means you are confident to openly live for God and exist in a state of transparency, trust, and accountability. This isn’t to say that your business becomes everyone else’s business, but a forgiving nature that is also forgiven allows you to move freely without the fear of exposure.

Part of that new understanding is seeing things in truth. Coming to accept the truth in events, we are also able to accept that there is accountability and potential consequences not only for the harm from others but the harm caused by us.

Call To Action

  1. Write out a prayer for healing from past pain.
  2. Write out what issues still remain in the dark chambers of your heart.
  3. Have you surrendered everything to Christ? If not, write out what you are trying to hide and why is it so important to you.

About this Plan

Captive No More: Freedom From Pain, Shame and Guilt

“Suck it up.” Those words empowered and encouraged me as a boy. They injured me as a man. When we talk about pain, we first think of physical pain from injury or accident. There is a masculine, internal block on the notion of our emotions or feelings being hurt. How could they be, we’re men after all!
