Decisions
God existed even before the beginning. He is the beginning.
The process started with a decision by God to create. First came the decision, then a blueprint, and finally the plan was executed.
Innovation is the intentional decision to quest for newness. God made the decision, and created the universe in all its array, splendour, majesty and glory (see Gen 1, 2). We make infinite number of decisions every workday, and the outcome needs to be ascertained. But, we need to appraise ourselves as to whether each of them underwent a well thought through process.
John Stott in the Law of Process states, ‘Leadership develops daily, not in a day.’ He further mentions that the learning process is ongoing. We cannot expect ourselves to grow to be great leaders overnight, but we ought to continue growing daily. We have to discipline ourselves to spend substantial time improving our skill sets and knowledge.
Choices are the key – pivotal to improvement. This might include creating fresh aspirations, and being intentional about your personal discipline. This may trigger a new arena of focus, prioritisation and active engagement.
Instead of reacting or responding to what comes our way, we can face challenges proactively and engagingly, and work to forge ahead by making efficient plans.
When a storm is on its way, eagles fly higher and higher, though on the currents of the storm. Though I plan meticulously on projects that require details, I face the flip side at times. I wonder, ‘Did I not plan well? Where did I fail?’ I then realise that my plan might fail, but the decision to continue holding on to the Lord will see me through to the end, according to His plan.
The Lord spoke to Moses saying He would send His angel ahead of the Israelites. Instead of reacting to this, Moses’ request in Exodus 33 to 'have the Lord Himself' made Him state, "My presence will go with You" in verse 14. Moses made the right choice – to have the Lord Himself.
Father, enable me to make choices that include You – from the beginning, through the process till completion.
