Love Remains Holy Week

DAY 7 OF 8

Pause. Imagine the despair many felt the day after Jesus died. Their friend, teacher, and hoped for king was gone.

It’s devastating, when things don’t go as planned. It can lead to questions like, “Was all this for nothing? What do I do now?”

Those questions were real for Jesus’s followers. Fear, confusion and uncertainty likely filled their minds and hearts as they didn’t know what the next day would hold for them.

Nevertheless, love was present.

The day after Jesus died was a Sabbath day—a day set apart for rest from work and for worship. Imagine how it must have felt for the disciples to have nothing to do that day except to try to worship after their friend and leader died. It sounds impossible, but the wait was necessary because God wanted us to know that his love is present even in the midst of despair. God's love hadn't stopped. In the silence it was moving. In the darkness, it was present.

Today, pause and spend time with God, and ask him what he’s saying and what he’s doing for you in this season?

About this Plan

Love Remains Holy Week

It’s hard to imagine what Jesus was thinking and feeling in the days leading to cross, but one thing we do know—his trust and assurance in the goodness and faithful love of God. Take a journey this Holy Week through the gospels, walk with Jesus, ask God a simple question, and encounter the vast love of God.
