Jesus: The Death Killer

DAY 3 OF 6

Listen to what Jesus said about life and death. After His good friend died, Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die” (John 11:25).

He is not only saying He can give the resurrection. He is saying, “I am the resurrection.” Jesus raised His friend from the dead, but that friend went on to die again. But Jesus did not die again. This is why we have hope. And anyone who believes in Him, though he dies, will live.

The consequence of sin is death. Jesus took care of both. God created us, human beings, to never die. To have beautiful, absolute, unbroken relationship with Him. But we decided against it and sinned against Him. Sin entered the world, and death followed closely.

And that's why the Death Killer came down from heaven. He chose to die, to take our sins Himself. And on the third day, when He rose again, He proved He could be our Savior from sin and the Death Killer.

We will die biologically. But if we believe in Him, our perspective of death is much different. We're not afraid of it. We won't force it. We won't run away from it. And when it happens, we know there is hope. Jesus says anyone who believes in Him will have everlasting life.
