Fall in Love With God's Word: Practical Strategies for Busy WomenSýnishorn
Day 5: Rest in the Lord’s Provision Today
One of my favorite verses of the entire Bible is Psalm 27:4, which says, “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.”
Not only is this verse beautiful and incredibly inspiring, but it’s made even more beautiful by the surrounding verses.
In this Psalm, King David talks openly about the troubles he faces: evil men advancing against him, an army attacking him, war breaking out all around him... And yet, no matter what troubles he faces, verse four provides respite. King David will seek God in His temple, and God will keep him safe from all trouble.
Are you facing difficult circumstances today, whether big or small? Are you living with strained relationships, financial worries, or an uncertain future? Are you suffering from depression, anxiety, anger, or bitterness?
No matter what trouble surrounds you today, God knows, He cares, and He will sustain you with His Word.
It’s so easy to fall into the trap of seeing our daily Bible reading as little more than another item to check off our to-do list. It’s easy to read our short daily portion, close our Bibles, and get on with the rest of the day, completely forgetting what we read that morning.
And yet, when we truly understand the beauty of Scripture, God’s Word offers us so much more than a quick pitstop in an otherwise busy and chaotic day.
Scripture is the place where we meet with God Himself, where we find strength, wisdom, and encouragement for the day ahead. In fact, Psalm 119:105 tells us, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”
No matter what you’re dealing with today, someone in the Bible has been in a similar situation. God led them through it, and He will lead you through it as well.
Even if you don’t know how your situation is going to turn out, you can rest assured that God does. He has a plan. We simply need to relax, trust, and follow Him in it.
Today’s Challenge: What fears, worries, or concerns are consuming you today, whether big or small? Take them to the Lord in prayer, then choose to worship Him in the midst of any struggles you may be facing.
