The Influencers Responsibility: How Our Likes, Followers, and Subscribers Can Have Eternal Significance Sýnishorn
One day I woke up from my sleep and knew I was hearing something in my dreams that needed to be written down. I rustled in the dark to find a pen and notepad to write down what I heard:
“When you have been given a redemptive mantle, you have been called to stand in the gap and restore what was wrong to right. Many people have been given a redemptive mantle within their sphere of influence, so they see the deeper issue of restoration that is needed. It’s not about solving problems, it’s about removing people from bondage. ”
When I woke up fully, I couldn’t believe the download I had been given. There was much more said, but the main idea was that our influence should be used to redeem people from places of bondage. Many of us have been given a redemptive mantle that operates through us under the umbrella of an Influencer in a specific area. Let’s call it a niche. We see the problem in that area and we carry and release solutions, unapologetically, confidently, and with urgency.
Christ the redeemer within us leads us to see the things that need to be restored and redeemed. Google tells us that the word redeem means,
“Gain or regain possession of (something) in exchange for payment. Acting to save someone from error or evil.”
On the other side of the likes, subscribers, and hashtags are real people in need of real direction. Something drew them to you. They are people who have been entrusted to you and who, for a moment, you have been given influential authority over. Having followers is only significant if we are leading them to Truth and helping them flourish in their assignment. Your influence should lead people to deeper Understanding, Transformation, Salvation, and Accountability to fulfill their calling.
Can I tell you something? Your email list and social media followers are more than just your next sale or business proposition. They are your spiritual responsibility! And we will spend the next three days learning how to steward it, no matter how big or how small it may be.
