DAY 8 OF 21

Hope

The apostle Peter knows that his readers are facing trials. Therefore, he reminds them of the hope they have through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Their present circumstances are hard, but they have a great future to look forward to!

Jesus’ resurrection is the indisputable proof that He has conquered death. Death does not have the last word. All believers shall be made alive in Christ. Indeed, the apostle Paul says, “if in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied” (1 Corinthians 15:19). But because Jesus rose from the dead, we have a living hope that goes beyond the grave.

As Peter is writing about these blessings, he bursts out in praise: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!” It is due to His great mercy that we have this living hope. It was His initiative to save humans. He elected them from eternity and caused them to be born again. Therefore, He is worthy of all praise.

Are you born again into this living hope?
