A Mom's Identity In ChristSýnishorn
Day 5: What Do I Do as a Mom in Times of Uncertainty?
Ask any Mom; the moment you become pregnant you realize for the rest of your life you are going to be living in uncertainty, (as if you had not realized you already were). Every moment you wonder, is the baby growing properly, how big is the baby, do I feel the baby moving? After you have the baby, it is a new set of wonders. You will absolutely drive yourself bananas if you do not stop and understand Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose". But we must not forget to read a little further to verses 29 and 30, where he tells us that this comes with a condition of being a believer; for He CALLED us. This means that He will fulfill His promises and show up even in the midst of uncertainty, but we must believe and have faith in Him first. We see so many things that COULD possibly happen, or fear what we have no control over. God does not call us to be afraid, but He also knows we are of flesh. I was talking to my Dad the other day and I asked him what to do about a relationship with a friend. He told me most people don’t want to hear it, but the answer to just about all things is prayer. You have to have a strong prayer life. Remember I talked about that muscle yesterday? Studying His word and talking to Him (prayer) is what grows the muscle stronger. In times of uncertainty we should always have a plan of action. A plan to praise Him for his soverinty, thanking Him for what He’s already done and trusting him for what he is going to do in the future. Think about Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Meditate on these verses and talk to your spouse or a friend about it.
Prayer: Jesus right now I am searching for Your comfort and discernment. Grant me the patience and capacity to be in times of uncertainty, and plunge into you. You are magnificent and everlasting. You tell us to pray without ceasing. Lord, when I do not, give me the heart to do so. In Jesus name I pray amen.
Questions to ask yourself:
1. Is my uncertainty pulling me away from Jesus or closer?
2. Who do I run to at the first sign of uncertainty?
3. Is that glorifying Him, or me?
Bible Verses: Romans 8:28 - 30, 1 Thessalonians 5: 16 -28
