God Has No Limits

DAY 3 OF 5

"No Limits To His Power Over The Weather"

“Everybody talks about the weather but nobody seems to do anything about it.” That amusing line is generally attributed to Mark Twain, and what has given the sentiment legs for more than a century now is that we have all wished we could influence what was happening in the atmosphere, at least on certain occasions.

Mothers of brides with outdoor receptions wish they could control heat and humidity. Farmers would love to be able to control the sunshine and rainfall that their crops need. If they were in charge of the weather, there would never be a killing frost again. Airlines would never lose a dime again to flights canceled due to storms in flight paths.

There is Someone in heaven who always gets the weather He wants: “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that hail will fall all over Egypt – on people and animals and on everything growing in the fields of Egypt.’ When Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky, the LORD sent thunder and hail, and lightning flashed down to the ground” (Exodus 9:22-23).

Perhaps the Egyptian farmers, huddling in their little huts and watching the destruction, cursed their bad luck. The amazed Israelite slaves were treated to a display of unlimited power over the weather that made them glad to be believers. They knew who had made hail happen.
