Mastering Money

Jesus once said, “You cannot serve God and wealth” at the same time (Matthew 6:24). So why do so many Christians try to do just that? And how can we flip the power balance, so that we are no longer slaves to money – but masters of it?

LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS   

• What would you say is the number one thing that drives you forward in life? Are you, as Berni admits he used to be, driven by the need to accumulate wealth?
• Have you ever felt torn between your desire to follow Jesus with everything you have and the fear of being left without any financial security? How did you resolve that tension?
• The promise that Jesus gives us when we choose to follow Him is freedom – true freedom that, actually, money can’t deliver. Ask Him to help you to believe in His promise today, and grow that conviction within you day by day. 
• Pray that God will help you to chase after Him more each day; ask Him to fill you with trust and faith in Him, so that your security will come to rest in His eternal love, not in the temporary illusion that money offers.
