Seeking His PresenceSýnishorn
Now that we have positioned ourselves to seek His presence, the next few days will be a call to action. We don't just want to know that we can encounter the presence of God, but also how do we?
The first key that I want to unpack today is prayer. Like we have already discussed, God is listening, but if we aren't speaking, then we can't expect to encounter His presence. Setting time aside to have conversations with your Heavenly Father is the most powerful way to encounter His presence because it is through prayer that we deepen our intimacy with Him.
Our two scripture readings for today talk about praying at all times and for all things. God wants to hear it all, and He wants to be with you in the midst of it too. If you want to encounter His presence, then there is no magic pill; we have to set time aside to pray.
It doesn't matter if you don't know what to pray initially. Why don't you start by thanking Him for all that He has done for you? Like David says in Psalm 100:4.
Through thanksgiving, we actually enter into His presence. Again, you don't need to be perfect to seek His presence; you just have to be wholehearted in your pursuit. As you set time aside to pray, thanking Him for all of His goodness, bringing to Him all of your burdens, day after day you will start to know what it means to live in intimate relationship with Him, and you'll begin to know the reality of His presence in your life.
Why don't you take some time now to pray? If you aren't sure where to start, pray this short prayer:
God, I thank You for Your goodness in my life. I thank You for Your amazing grace which has saved my soul. I thank You for your Son Jesus, who took the punishment for my sin upon Himself when He died for me on the cross. I thank You that now, through faith in Christ, I am a new creation; the old has gone, and the new has come. As I seek intimacy and a deeper relationship with You in my life, help me today to know the reality of Your powerful and transforming presence. In Jesus' name, Amen.
TODAY'S REFLECTION
Prayer is the first key to seeking and encountering the presence of God. Set time aside each day to have a conversation with your Heavenly Father, and as you deepen your intimacy with Him, you will start to know the reality of His presence.
