Aging
Watching our loved ones grow older with both mental and physical limitations can make us realize how frail each of us is, and the thought of their life ending and eventually for us as well. While having these thoughts ,we can slip into dread, sadness, and discouragement because in our eyes, our youth is slipping away. Possibly we may even think God can’t use us due to our own limitations that come with age. Oh, how wrong we are!
In 2 Corinthians 4:7 Paul is talking about how our jars of clay (bodies) hold treasures inside even though our bodies are hard-pressed on the outside. When you read further down you will read this verse - v16b “Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”
Those verses should fill us with hope that even with our age, and yes, even in our limitations, we are getting renewed daily with Christ’s hope and it’s a reminder that we have a job to do in whatever capacity that may be. With our age comes wisdom and knowledge that we can share with younger women to encourage and show them that Christ can use anyone through their limitations.
We should not run from aging. We should embrace it by running towards Christ who is constantly renewing and producing an eternal weight of glory in us!
“Father forgive me in my thinking that I can’t be used by You because of my limitations. Show me and use me in whatever capacity that You need me. Help me to think more about You than myself. Help me to share my story with younger women to encourage them. Amen”
2 Corinthians 4:7-18
