All Shall Be Well: Awakening To God's PresenceSýnishorn
Creation
Today, we read the Creation stories in Genesis. In the first account—likely originally written as a song—God speaks, and all things come into being at His command. In the second story, God is depicted as a gardener, planting trees and growing things in the dirt where nothing had yet begun to live. Then, amazingly, he reaches into the dust and forms a human. Breathing His own breath of life into its nostrils, it becomes a living being.
What an incredible story! For the ancient Hebrews who passed these tidings down through generations, it held a subversive, theologically-rich claim: that the Creator is good and created something good. That He formed this world with purpose, love, and intentionality; that nothing He made is by accident or forgotten. And, greatest of all, that He is still here, loving and tending to the world He planted by hand, and the life that lives by His breath.
And guess what? This includes you, too…and everything you can see.
What beauty, truth, and hope do you find in this ancient story?
