SAYING 24: MAKE YOUR PLOTS GOOD ONES!
Some passages of scripture seem kind of far-fetched or absurd. It's those passages that make you think, 'Oh please, that would never apply to me.’ But when we come across a verse like that, we should stop and reflect for a moment. Is it that far-fetched?
Solomon writes, "Whoever plots evil will be known as a schemer." This seems kind of obvious, doesn't it? Why would Solomon even need to remind us of this? But what Solomon is trying to show us is how important our motivations are. Because that's where plotting evil comes from: motivation. So in every conversation, every relationship, every endeavor, every project, it's wise to ask, 'What's my motivation for doing this?' or, 'What am I hoping to achieve?' Being honest with yourself and asking these hard questions will help you make proper decisions. Don't be a schemer. It's not cool.

ACTION
Examine your motivations. If there are any bad ones, do something that would result in the opposite outcome. Example: If you're motivated to treat someone unkindly out of jealousy, do something nice for that person!
PRAYER
Pray Psalm 139 and reflect on its plea for God to ‘search [your] heart’ and know your thoughts.
