Killing It: A Study Of 1 CorinthiansSýnishorn
Power has a tendency to move us toward our worst selves.
Paul chose NOT to come to Corinth in “power”, but in weakness, fear, and trembling. He came in the spirit of the cross. Why?
A genius is marked by POWER -- his own intelligence, style, ability and giftedness. An apostle is someone who is sent.
A genius wants to shape the message, put her stamp on it. An apostle wants to get out of the way of the message.
Why would anybody approach their job in weakness, fear and trembling?
This is a new leadership style. It reflects the vulnerability of Jesus. It is other-centered rather than me-centered. It does not focus on convincing people about the impressiveness of the leader, but the reality of Jesus and the truthfulness of his message and the power of his way.
About this Plan
Follow along as we reflect on the idea that #KillingIt is "killing us." This series will be inspired by the first 2 chapters of the book of 1 Corinthians, looking at Paul's intro into how to live a life in the way of the cross. "For the message of the cross if foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." 1 Corinthians 1:18
